We’ve taken data from Google Trends to determine which household items, appliances, and gadgets, have gained the most popularity in Google Shopping searches over the last 12 months. While the data may not be exactly scientific, it does give us a general idea of what people have been hankering for in each state.
As you check your state you may find that you have searched for that item, maybe even bought it! Take a look below at our graphic to see what we’ve all been online shopping for this year.
Most Searched Household Items in Each State
One of the standout items that we can see in both Indiana and Kentucky is a Winnie the Pooh crockpot.
Households across these states will have been disappointed to find out that the viral crockpot seen across social media earlier in the year turned out to be fake and was AI-generated.
In terms of rooms, bathroom items seem to be what most of us have been shopping for. Searches increased most for things such as shower caps, curtains, and heads, as well as walk-in tubs and bathmats across various states.
Those in Connecticut are definitely on-trend as their most searched item, a fire pit, is a top outdoor living trend according to industry professionals.
And there is a slight difference between those in Arkansas and Minnesota, with the former shopping for barstools, and the latter going one step further and searching for barstools with backs.
Methodology
We took data from Google Trends in October 2024, using the Home and Garden category and Google Shopping web search from each state. We took the highest-rising search query over the past 12 months. Rising queries are those with the biggest increase in search frequency since the previous period of time.
