Metal costs more than fabric, for example, while a retractable awning may cost more than a stationary one of the same size and style. Labor for installing an awning ranges from $40 to $60 per hour for most installations. But retractable awnings may also need the additional services of an electrician to finish the job, at $65 to $85 an hour.
